Hear us ROAR: Our Amazing Curriculum!

At UpROAR Leadership Academy (ULA) we develop the leaders of tomorrow within our structured and joyful learning environment for grades 5-12. Focused on character development, high academic standards, and post-secondary readiness, we dutifully and ably educate our scholars by concentrating on both high academic standards and life skills. Let’s take a closer look at the curriculum that sets the stage for bright futures for every Tiger and Tigerette at our public charter middle and high school.

Math, ELA & STEM

Our curriculum enables us to share goals between teachers, scholars and families. We standardize the academic goals for our entire public charter middle and high school with an intentionally-designed curriculum that provides a clear path for our scholars to progress from one grade to another, and to thrive in the college or career of their choice.

Our students in every grade from 5-12 take Math, English Language Arts (ELA) and a Science class. UpROAR Leadership Academy values middle and high school-level STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education. By teaching technological literacy, critical thinking and problem-solving through our Science education, our scholars gain the skills they need to succeed in life. Our Science classes range in topics from Physical Science to Biology to Earth & Environmental Science.

Social Studies at ULA

Studying social sciences promotes an understanding of the real world around our scholars. Together, in grades 5-12 we learn about places, cultures, and events around the world and how they impact our global society today. Our important Social Studies curriculum in middle school evolves into American History and World History in grades 9-12. Our deep dive into America’s beginning includes Founding Principles, Civics, and Economics, too.

Academic Passions Thrive with Exciting Electives

In seventh and eighth grade our scholars begin to inform their education with electives. We offer exciting and informative options like:

  • Career Explorations

  • Principles of Architecture and Construction

  • Health Careers

  • Principles of Arts, Audio/Technology, and Communications

  • Foreign Language

Health & Wellbeing

By high school, our UpROAR Tigers and Tigerettes can join Honors courses in Math and English, continue with foreign languages and History, and learn more about their physical wellbeing in PE and Health. We never stop reminding our scholars how important it is to take good care of themselves and those around them. Our focus on wellbeing and good choices provides a backdrop for our scholars to develop the emotional skills to live a healthy life. Together, we tackle stress-reduction techniques, anger management and other important teenage and adult coping mechanisms.

As our scholastic time together marches on, we enable our beloved scholars every opportunity to hit the milestones they seek. We offer ACT Prep, driver’s education options and exciting athletics and clubs. Our Honor code elevates confidence, discipline and respect; while celebrating our expectations of our scholars and informs our connection to community service.
