At UpROAR Leadership Academy (ULA) we educate the leaders of tomorrow by concentrating on high academic standards as well as life skills. Our structured and joyful school culture enables every scholar to succeed. From fashion shows to growing plants -- our scholars are learning together via the best ways to shine (and ROAR!); project-based learning. Here are 4 examples of our commitment to project-based learning for every age and stage scholar at ULA:
1. We encourage our students to get hands-on during our lessons. Our 7th and 8th grade scholars pot and grow their own plants while learning about photosynthesis in science class.
2. We provided our ULA scholars with a social and emotional learning (SEL) class over the summer because we care about every scholar having the opportunity to process the pandemic. In this class, scholars set 30 day goals and work individually and together in order to reach them.
3. Our 5th and 6th grade scholars use their favorite social media app TikTok to film and create news stories and other skits in their art class while working through their Filmography Unit. Also, our students put on their own fashion show during their fashion unit.
4. Our high school scholars worked on their collaboration and communication skills via small group-based learning. The task was to create houses with limited supplies and time -- doing more with less and with an eye on the clock!
In order to truly advance our scholars -- we focus on transformative learning experiences and these seven core competencies: academics, vocational, life skills, healthy living, physical fitness, service projects, and as productive citizens. Project-based learning creates a forum for hands-on experimentation, small group collaboration, personal creativity and emotional growth. UpROAR is enrolling now. Join us!
